What to Expect

Here is a snapshot of what you’ll find during our meeting times at Memorial Road. We would love to connect with you personally. Feel free to reach out!

Contact Us
Parking & Entrance

You’re welcome to park and enter anywhere, of course, but our primary parking area for guests is in the large lot just east of our building. You’ll find a section near the building with spaces reserved for guests.

When you come inside that east entrance, the auditorium where we worship is straight ahead. You can also come to Information Central to ask any questions and get pointed in the right direction. The Info Central desk is located just to the west of the auditorium. View a map HERE.

Dress

You’ll see a wide array of clothing styles when you visit, so wear what you like!

Worship: Music

One of the unique things about Memorial Road is that the music in our worship services is ‘a cappella;’ that is, we sing without the use of musical instruments. We love the beauty and joy of worshiping God from our hearts with our voices. We believe you’ll find the singing meaningful and uplifting, with everyone being invited to participate.

Worship: Communion

Every Sunday in our worship time, we take communion together to celebrate and remember what Jesus did for us on the cross. During this time, trays of unleavened bread (symbolizing the body of Jesus) and cups of grape juice (symbolizing the blood of Jesus) will be passed throughout the auditorium. While you are welcome to participate in this practice, you are certainly not obligated to; feel free to simply pass the trays to the next person.

Worship: Financial Offering

Trays will also be passed to collect our members’ weekly financial offering as an expression of gratitude and worship. Again, as our guest, you are welcome to participate but are certainly not expected to.

Worship: Welcome Books

While the offering trays are being passed, Welcome Books will also be passed down the aisle. Inside these binders you’ll find simple forms for guests and for members to sign. We would love to know that you were with us, and any contact information you choose to provide will allow us to follow up and thank you for your visit. In addition, there will be a Prayer and Information Card inside the Welcome Book. This card provides an opportunity to request prayers of our elders and/or staff, as well as information about some of our ongoing ministries.

Worship: Preaching

Every Sunday you will hear a preached message. We believe in the divinity and power of God’s Word, and we typically allocate 25-30 minutes of our worship time for the sermon. We hope you find it refreshingly Bible-centered and applicable to your life. You can hear and view past sermons HERE.

Worship: Invitation

At the close of the lesson, the minister will “extend an invitation.” He will encourage those who desire prayer to go to the back of the auditorium where they can meet with one of our church elders.  For any desiring to be baptized, he will invite them to come and meet him at the front of the auditorium.

Worship: Baptisms

While not every worship service features a baptism, we are always ready to perform this act for those who are ready to commit their lives to following Jesus. If a baptism occurs, you will witness the same thing that we see modeled in the pages of the Bible. The person will publicly confess their belief and commitment, and will then be immersed into water for the forgiveness of sins.

Children’s Worship

During the school year, we offer children’s worship experiences for kids age 3 – Kindergarten in both Sunday morning services. These take place during the second part of each worship service – kids begin in service with their parents and then are dismissed to children’s worship during the song before the main message.

We love the practice of families worshiping together, so you are welcome to bring your children of any age into worship with you. We also offer staffed worship nurseries (located off the lobby that runs behind, to the west of, the auditorium) for children age 0 to 3.

Bible Classes

Every Sunday at 9:35 a.m. and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., we offer Bible classes for all ages. Learning what is in the pages of scripture is one of the core values of our church, and everyone is invited to attend these classes that we believe will help you grow spiritually and connect to others. Learn more about our classes and programs for children HERE. Learn more about our classes for adults HERE.

First Cup

Each week on Sunday morning, we invite guests to spend time with some of our ministers and church members in First Cup. This informal orientation session allows you to get information about Memorial Road in a personalized way and gives us a chance to begin learning your story. You’ll learn about our ministries, programs, small groups and Bible studies. You’ll hear about what it means to take a next step or to be a member of the Memorial Road church family. And you can ask any question that’s on your mind. First Cup meets every Sunday morning at 9:35 a.m. in the Welcome Center and is an ideal way to get started at MRCC.

Small Groups

Memorial Road is a large congregation, but we offer lots of venues designed to make a big church feel smaller. One of the best ways to form friendships and grow spiritually is to be a part of a small group. We have active groups for people of any life stage and age group. Most of these groups average eight to twelve adults and host weekly home meetings. Sunday evenings are the most popular meeting time, but some groups opt for other times of the week.
