This lesson was on Mother’s Day, and Phil preached a sermon about a mom from Mark 5. Here we find the story about Jairus, his dying daughter, and a bleeding woman. Indeed, these three characters take center stage in this heart-pounding scriptural drama. Yet, hidden behind the scenes is a woman who barely gets one line in the story: the dying girl’s mother. Though she is in the background of the story, she’s at the forefront of Jesus’ mind, as He offers her a special invitation to the miracle in her living room. Phil will explain how Jesus understands the heart of a parent, and how we can follow His example in learning to love mothers more fully.
