Deacon Selection
~ 1 Timothy 3:8-13
In the same way, deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons. In the same way, their wives are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything. A deacon must be faithful to his wife and must manage his children and his household well. Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.
- Deacons must meet the qualifications in 1 Timothy 3:8-13
- They should be men who are positive representatives of MRCC
- Deacons are to be utilized as servants/leaders in a variety of roles
- Elders should be able to look to our Deacons when roles of service or leadership are required
- While deacons should carry out servant and leadership roles, being a deacon is not required to be in a servant or leadership role
- Based on the recommendations of the congregation, the elders place before you these men to serve as deacons. The elders have interviewed these men and have carefully considered their qualifications. We encourage everyone to pray and fast for these men and their families.
