Christmas at Memorial Road

reGift: Some things are meant to be shared

Don’t know what to give to your friends and family this year? Just check your closet for unopened gifts from last year!  You might just find unopened socks, coffee mugs, candles, and picture frames ready to be repurposed. And, as long as they don’t have your name engraved on them (make sure to check that by the way), then these forgotten extras can become someone else’s treasure. This phenomenon is called regifting, and it has become quite popular over the last ten years. It is based on the idea that there are certain kinds of gifts that don’t need to be kept; they need to be shared.

Jesus once said, “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded.” It was a rather harsh sentence delivered to those who knew God’s will and didn’t act on it.  It can also be applied to the gifts God has given us. When we receive from God gifts like grace, mercy, money, opportunity, hope, and joy, then God’s expectation is that the gifts don’t stop with us.  He wants the gifts to be shared through us. In other words, he wants his people to be in the business of regifting. Join us this December on Sundays and Wednesdays as we study this important principle.

Christmas Eve Service: Monday, December 24th, 5 PM

Start a New Tradition Your Family Will Love!

Christmas week can be one of the most hectic of the year.  Whether it’s the last minute gift you’ll buy, the green bean casserole you’ll forget to make, the floor you’ll scrub at the last minute before company walks in, or the energy it will take to put your happy face on, Christmas week can take quite a toll on the soul.  This is precisely why we at Memorial Road are hosting a Christmas Eve service.  We want to help you pause, catch your breath, and remember why you’re doing all the things you’re doing in the first place.

Our service will begin at 5:00 on Monday, December 24th.  We plan to sing Christmas songs together, give an encouraging message, and hold a special candle lighting.  We’ll also have Christmas themed photo booths on display and photographers on hand both before and after the service so you can get a family photo free of charge while everyone is in town.  We’ll also be offering cocoa and cookies afterwards.  So join on Christmas eve and make 2018 the year you start a new tradition that you and your family will love.
