Stafford and JoAnne North

Stafford was born on March 12, 1930, at Abilene, Texas, where he was raised. His parents were Lola and Luke North and he has three brothers, Herschel, Charles, and John. Stafford attended Abilene Christian University, Louisiana State University, and the University of Florida. Stafford met his wife, JoAnne, at her sister's wedding in Florida. They were married on June 10, 1955, have one son, David, three daughters, Linda, Julie, and Susan, and ten grandchildren. Stafford started preaching in February 1948, at the age of eighteen because he had a desire to study and share the scriptures.

Stafford joined the faculty at Oklahoma Christian University in 1952 and has worked there in various roles since that time.  He became an elder at Memorial Road in 1972 and says "seeing people's lives changed--more likely to go to heaven" is his greatest joy in serving as an elder. Stafford and JoAnne like to travel when they can find the time.
