Jr. High Mission Trip Recap (June 2009)
The first week in June, a group of about 60 teens and 20 sponsors drove down to Fort Worth to do some mission work. We were given the opportunity to help out with the Fortress Church, a church much less fortunate than us.

Their main goal is to help provide a place for kids, to get them on the right path, and provide them influential people along on the way. The area in which we worked has always been a rough neighborhood where gang activity, poverty, and drugs are big issues. Keeping kids off the streets and away from that type of lifestyle is what the Fortress Church is constantly working towards.

For three days we helped out with various efforts including painting, cleaning, organizing, putting on a car wash, picking up trash around the neighborhood, and even handing out food to the homeless. All of these activities gave us great opportunities to work for the Kingdom and influence people's lives. They also served as great reminders of how blessed we are and how much we often take for granted. We also had a lot of fun though. Our nighttime activities included dinner at Riscky's BBQ, Putt-Putt and Go-Carts, and ended with a nightly devotional at the hotel. All in all, this trip was very spiritually and emotionally uplifting for everyone involved. Our teens did an outstanding job, working very hard, and we should all be proud of them!
